How to Get Natural Results From Your Smile Makeover

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Cosmetic dentistry can provide a beautiful reinvention of sorts for your smile, and finding a dentist committed to natural results should be one of your highest priorities before moving forward with treatment.

At my Boulder comprehensive and cosmetic dental practice, we have a saying that a successful smile makeover is one that creates dramatic smile improvement without letting the world know you’ve had dental work done. There is a fine line between natural and contrived results, and we work hard to make sure your smile upgrades fit your face and are aesthetically believable.

Some patients will need several procedures to achieve a healthy, balanced, beautiful smile, so it is important that every step be carried out with a high level of attention to detail and personalization. As we address your tooth and gum issues one by one, my team and I will consult with you every step of the way to make sure you are happy with the direction your smile is going.

For example, during dental restoration treatments like dental veneers or

porcelain crowns, only safe, biocompatible materials like porcelain and high-grade dental ceramic are chosen. These materials share similar qualities with natural enamel and can be color-shaded to match your unique tooth shade.

Even with surgical procedures like dental implants or dental rehabilitation treatments involving bite stabilization, my team and I combine skill and artistic vision to ensure your results appear as naturally appealing as possible. To see several examples of our natural-focused dental makeovers, please browse our smile gallery.

If you are thinking about a smile makeover and you’d like to learn more about the steps we take to ensure the most natural smile results, we invite you to schedule an appointment today.

What is Restorative Dentistry?

Sunday, January 15, 2012

The Free Dictionary - Medical Dictionary Edition defines restorative dentistry as, “that branch of the healing arts concerned with the teeth, oral cavity, and associated structures, including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease and restoration of defective or missing tissue.”

Benefits of Dental Restoration

At my dental practice in Boulder, we are proud to offer several restorative solutions to help patients of all ages achieve and maintain the healthiest teeth and gums possible. Restorative dentistry requires both skill and creativity in that it is applied for both functional and aesthetic purposes. For you, this means our restorative services will leave you with teeth that are strong, durable, healthy, natural-looking, and beautiful.

Restoration Treatments

Our restoration services are completely personalized and optimized to ensure maximum comfort during treatment. We utilize the latest restorative dentistry techniques and technology in order to provide you with quality results that last many years and are highly resistant to damage. Depending on the information gathered in your initial consultation and exam, we may recommend one or more of the following restorative treatments to help you achieve optimal dental health.

Start With an Exam

If you haven’t seen a dentist in awhile, we encourage you to schedule a professional hygiene appointment and X-ray session. Beginning with a thorough dental cleaning, we’ll evaluate your dental health up-close and carefully review your films. If there are any areas of concern, we will give you detailed information on your possible solutions.

Please note, you do not have to have a dental health issue in order to benefit from our restorative treatments. If there are physical traits you would like to change, such as an overly gummy smile, discolored teeth, or dark, metal fillings, we are able to apply cosmetic solutions to benefit your appearance while ensuring ultimate strength and durability. During your first visit, you can also inquire about our additional dental services, such as dental bridges, root canals, dentures, TMJ treatment, and AgilityGuard.

For additional details about our comprehensive Boulder dental services, please schedule an appointment to meet with the team.

Cosmetic Dentistry Fixes for Gapped Teeth

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

Tooth gaps are a sore spot for some people and a trait that they’d rather give up. While small gaps may add character to a smile, a sizable gap can make you self-conscious about your smile.

At my Boulder, Colorado dental practice, we offer several solutions for fixing gapped teeth. Depending on the size and position of your gap, and how it affects your neighboring teeth and gums, cosmetic dentistry can be very effective for improving both the appearance and function of your teeth.

  • Invisalign braces — These clear, plastic aligners work to gently realign teeth in order to close gaps and relax overcrowding. Once treatment is finished, your teeth will be in a more advantageous position, giving you the ability to use them more effectively and creating a more attractive appearance.

  • Porcelain veneers — Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that sit on the front surfaces of teeth. They can cover several teeth at once, effectively masking small gaps and other physical issues. While veneers do create a natural-looking solution, they are recommended for appearance improvement only and should not be used in instances where a gap is causing chewing or speaking problems.

  • Dental implants — If you have large gaps that exist due to lost teeth, a dental implant is the cosmetic dentistry option that comes closest to having a real tooth. Dental implants are anchored to the jawbone and shaped to look just like your natural teeth. If you fill in a gap with an implant, you can minimize jawbone loss, regain full chewing power, and stop neighboring teeth from shifting out of place.

If you’d like to see how cosmetic dentistry can help with tooth gaps and other smile problems, please visit our Smile Gallery for before and after images.

Dental Fixes for Common Tooth Problems

Sunday, April 10, 2011

Isn’t it about time you took care of that glaring chip in your front tooth? Or how about that dark gum line above your dental crown? What about looking into laser whitening to take care of that yellowish enamel? Fixing your least-favorite smile characteristics is easier than you might think.

At our cosmetic dentistry practice in Boulder, Colorado, my team and I make tooth fixes affordable and stress-free. We have a variety of tooth restoration treatments that will undoubtedly improve your smile confidence and enhance your overall smile appearance.

Here is a brief list of common tooth repair solutions that can maximize your smile power and create a healthier mouth in the process.

Tooth chips — Tooth bonding is the quickest, least invasive option for minor tooth damage like chipping. You may also consider porcelain veneers, which can be completed in just two visits.

Tooth cracks or fractures – We are often able to repair minor cracks and fractures with ceramic fillings or dental bonding. For tooth damage that affects a large amount of tooth structure, we may recommend a dental crown instead.

Darkened crown — Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns tend to reveal a dark line where gum tissue and tooth meet. With a new ceramic crown, you’ll never run the risk of this telltale sign.

Bad bite — If your upper and lower teeth don’t come together evenly or comfortably, our neuromuscular dentistry treatments can help restore balance to your smile.

Discolored enamelLaser tooth whitening can take your smile up several shades in just one visit to our office. We also offer take-home whitening.

Large gums — Through gentle and safe laser gum reshaping, we are able to minimize excessive gum tissue and recontour uneven gums to frame your smile beautifully.

Crooked teeth — Choose from a superficial solution like porcelain veneers, or move teeth gradually into place with the Invisalign® alignment system.

  • Please visit our smile gallery to see what a difference these restoration procedures can have on your smile.

To talk about your smile makeover options and get a treatment estimate, please contact my team for more information. We look forward to providing you with a personalized cosmetic dentistry care plan that will give you a gorgeous smile you can be proud to show off.

Five Steps to a Brighter Smile

Sunday, April 03, 2011

Are you happy with the color of your teeth? With every birthday comes the chance that your teeth may look a little less white. It’s a natural process that happens to everyone, but it causes many people to become very self-conscious and think twice about showing their smile.

If your once-pearly whites are looking yellowish and dull, advice from our smile brightening team can help you solve this problem easily and affordably.

At my cosmetic dentistry practice in Boulder, Colorado, I offer patients several options for smile brightening. From making different choices at home to having professional tooth restoration treatments performed, you can achieve a brighter, more beautiful smile in just a short time.

Here are five actions you can take to improve your tooth shade.

1. Avoid staining substances or use in moderation. Nicotine, red wine, grape juice, berries, coffee and tea can accelerate the discoloration process.

2. Make sure you brush and floss regularly to wash away any potentially staining agents and use a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid wearing down tooth enamel.

3. For individual teeth that have become discolored, we can perform dental bonding to help you reach your ideal shade. If an old dental crown is revealing a grey line at the gums, we can replace it with a new porcelain crowns that won’t cause discoloration. Porcelain veneers work well for improving the appearance of several teeth in a row.

4. Invest in an advanced professional whitening treatment from our state-of-the-art dental practice for a dramatic shade improvement. We currently offer in-office laser whitening and take-home whitening kits with customized trays.

5. Check in with our dental team about every six months for whitening touch-ups to maintain a bright shade of enamel.

If you would like some examples of smile brightening services, please visit our smile gallery.

To learn more about keeping your teeth white and attractive, please contact my team for more information. When you can schedule a visit with our Boulder smile makeover team, we will conduct a comprehensive smile assessment and deliver personalized recommendations for shade enhancement.

Social Benefits of a Smile Enhancement

Sunday, March 27, 2011

Your smile is often the first thing people notice about you. In an instant, it can convey warmth, friendliness, comfort, and confidence. A beautiful smile is also a trait that invites people to interact with you and even trust you before a single word is spoken.

Just as a winning smile can provide many advantages in the social arena, a less-than-perfect smile can work against you. If there are things you don’t like about your smile, you may be hiding it without even realizing you’re holding back — and limiting your potential for interaction with others in the process.

Investing in Your Appearance

A smile makeover, or smile enhancement, is a wonderful gift you can give yourself with little time or financial sacrifice. An attractive smile will provide many social benefits, and improving tooth problems will enhance your overall dental health, as well.

At my Boulder, Colorado comprehensive dental practice, my team and I offer a variety of tooth restoration treatments to help you take your smile to the next level.

You can choose from smile makeover procedures like Invisalign braces for subtle smile straightening, porcelain veneers for flawless tooth repair, porcelain crowns to restore breaks and fractures, and dental implants to replace missing teeth.

Tooth whitening is one of the most requested smile enhancement treatments as it creates dramatic changes in a matter of minutes. Our cosmetic dentistry for men uses a targeted combination of tooth and gum treatments that are customized to enhance each patient’s smile and improve appearance.

To get an idea of the impact a smile enhancement can have, please visit our smile gallery.

Life After a Smile Makeover

Once your smile is perfected by our team, you’ll start to notice changes in the way others respond to you, as well as improved confidence in your day-to-day activities. Even a small cosmetic dentistry enhancement can improve others’ perception of you in business and personal situations. Many of our past smile makeover patients have reported improved self-perception and a more positive attitude after having smile enhancement treatments.

Whether you are interested in cosmetic dentistry or simply due for a wellness care checkup, we would love to see you for a discussion of your smile enhancement. Please schedule a visit with our Boulder smile makeover team at your convenience.

Cosmetic Dentistry for Men

Sunday, March 20, 2011

Cosmetic dentistry is a popular way for people with tooth and gum problems to finally have a smile they’ve always imagined. Smile enhancement has traditionally been more popular with women, but the dental field is seeing a rise in male patients as new and innovative smile repair techniques are being introduced and treatments are becoming more affordable and accessible.

Custom Smile Design

As a highly trained smile makeover artist, I have a deep understanding of the elements that make a man’s smile prominent and alluring. I will carefully calculate the optimal position, shape, and length of your teeth, along with the ideal height of your gum tissue, to design a well-balanced smile that accents your facial features. After a full mouth examination and discussion of your smile goals, we will review your options together and I’ll present my recommended treatment plan. You may require just one cosmetic dentistry treatment or a combination of several treatments, depending on the final result desired.

Tooth Repair

Our first priority is making sure your teeth are fully functional and aligned properly. If there are any structural issues that are affecting your bite, I may recommend a tooth restoration or TMJ procedure. Choosing to repair tooth breaks, chips, cracks, fractures, or misalignment can only improve your smile appearance and will help build a strong foundation for any additional cosmetic enhancements. Common restoration treatments include dental fillings, dental crowns, dental bridges, and Invisalign braces.

Cosmetic Improvement

Fillings, dental bonding, dental crowns, gum reshaping, and porcelain veneers are popular smile makeover procedures that can turn unattractive tooth features into admirable ones. Tooth whitening is perhaps the most requested cosmetic dentistry procedure due to its noninvasive nature, its affordability, and its dramatic results.

Benefits of Smile Enhancement

Smile enhancement can improve your self-confidence, which is invaluable in both personal and business situations. The smile improvements we perform are of the highest quality, ensuring long-lasting results that will benefit you for many years. Many of our male patients have reported feeling younger and more vibrant after cosmetic dentistry.

Remember to visit us every six months for your wellness care checks to keep your smile healthy and beautiful. If you would like to learn more about the cosmetic dentistry options available to men, please schedule a wellness visit with our Boulder, Colorado dental practice.
